About the Artist
My name is Kealani Yamamoto.
I am Hapa, half Filipino / half Caucasian.
My Hawaiian name comes from my great grandpa, grandparents, and mom immigrating from the Philippines to Kauai, Hawaii.
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was 17 years old. My creativity and artistic talents took off after my diagnosis, and I've learned to lean into the chaos, beauty, and power of my own mind.
My dad and grandpa instilled my love for the outdoors, and I spent my childhood exploring our surrounding mountains, creeks, lakes, and trails.
If you visit the mountain ranges I sketch, you'll notice all the flora and fauna that's reflected in my artwork.
Catch you on the trails!
